DESCRIPTIONS:
Silicon carbide is manufactured by heating silica and carbon to high temperatures. Features include Mohs hardness of 9.25, chemical inertness, resistance to melting, high thermal conductivity, low co-efficient of thermal expansion, thermal shock and abrasion resistance, and high strength at high temperatures. Applications include wire sawing silicon wafers, semiconductor materials, power switching, high temperature heating elements, refractories, sandpaper, grinding wheels, gem polishing, advanced ceramics, diesel particulate filters, thermal sprays, aerospace applications, lapping, iron and steel, and others. Custom and toll fusion formulating services are also available. Fusions are formulated using electric arc furnaces. Processing capabilities include crushing, grinding, magnetically separating materials, heat treating, and surface treating.
