Green silicon carbide is a very high-purity silicon carbide (SiC) lapping powder produced by reacting silica and petroleum coke in an electric furnace at a temperature higher than 2000° C. Green silicon carbide is produced as the same type as the black silicon carbide, except the different raw materials. It's crystallization have higher purity and hardness. Custom sizing, custom chemistries, packing, and coatings are available upon request. Applications for green silicon carbide include metal matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites, abrasives, friction and anti-slip, thermally conductive fillers, refractories, polishing compounds and general filler applications.CoatedSilicon Carbide is the hardest and sharpest of the abrasives used for coated applications, making it ideal for sanding non-ferrous metals as aluminum, brass, bronze, magnesium, titanium etc., rubber, glass, plastics, fibrous woods, enamel and other relatively soft materials.
Cutting
Silicon Carbide is used as a cutting medium due to its extreme toughness and hardness. It is superior to any other abrasive in its ability to penetrate and cut faster under light pressure.
A typical example is a cut-off wheel used to cut titanium, stone, concrete, tiles, ceramic, glass, plastic and PVC.
Grinding
The grinding process requires rapid removal of materials to reduce the piece worked to a specific size or removes surface damage, making Silicon Carbide an obvious choice due to its abrasive properties.
